The false grid workers get to see the drivers before they enter the track for each practice and qualifying session as well as before each race. They let the drivers know how close it is to the beginning of their session and check that they have their safety equipment in place and are securely belted in. For races, they line up the cars in grid order. This is a good specialty for seeing drivers and their cars up close.
