ABOUT
FLAGGING & COMMUNICATIONS

One Of Many Flagging Stations At Lime Rock

The purpose of Flag & Communication workers at SCCA races is to maintain a clear race course, assist cars in trouble on the course and keep both the Chief Steward and the drivers informed using phone communication and colored flags. This specialty is extremely rewarding, particularly to the hard core racing enthusiast. As expected there are advantages and disadvantages. First the good part: no one except a driver gets closer to the racing. F&C is a good place for prospective drivers to learn about racing. F&C is the best place to meet many new friends as we are the largest worker group in SCCA. Once licensed, you can work races anywhere in North America. Disadvantages: F&C is an all day job in all weather (we race in the rain). As such, specialized clothing is required. Racing goes from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. By its nature F&C can be dangerous. However, our specialized training is responsible for our excellent safety record. Come out and give F&C a try.

Here is a note from the previous Webmaster, Paul Little.

The new Webmaster for this website is now Darrell Anthony. Effective 05 Feb 2005 he has taken over this job for me as I no longer can do it.

So, stay tuned ... Darrell has some great ideas for this site and has the ability and time to do so. Its content, look and feel will change in the future. Please send him your comments. He's open to any suggestions from our membership.
